I have a goal of running an efficient, fiscally responsible campaign that shows that I understand the significance of managing budgets effectively, and demonstrate my ability for responsible stewardship of public resources. I am committed to bringing that same discipline to Council chambers in the fall.

I acknowledge that times are tough for a lot of residents in Guelph, I will be focusing on practical solutions and community engagement over excessive spending in a campaign.

Using E-transfer is the most economical way to contribute, it would allow me to receive the entire donation, and save on the credit card transaction fees. Please send the donation to shane4ward6@gmail.com and complete the form.

If you would like to donate by cheque, please make it payable to “Shane Coulis for Ward 6” and complete the form to schedule a pick up.

Campaign Contribution Rules and Eligiblity

  • You must be a resident of Ontario with an address in the province.

  • Only individuals can donate to a campaign, not corporations, non-profit organizations, or labour unions.

  • Donation maximum of $1,200 per individual.

  • Donations over $25 must include the donor’s name, date, and address. This will be included in the candidate’s financial statement.

  • Unlike contributions to provincial and federal candidates, contributions to candidates running for municipal council or school board are generally not tax deductible.

  • An individual may make a maximum contribution of:

    • $1,200 to any one candidate in an election, and

    • $5,000 to all candidates in the same jurisdiction

  • The following entities may not contribute to a candidate’s campaign:

    • Corporations

    • Trade unions

    • Registered charities

    • Federal political parties, associations or candidates

    • Provincial political parties, associations or candidates

    • Associations including neighbourhood, clubs, professional, fire, or police

    • Federal or provincial government, a municipality or a school board

    • Any source outside Ontario (except for the candidate and their spouse)

    Members of these entities may contribute individually.
